The system is pressure-tested to locate the leak, then whatever is at fault is replaced: a hose, the radiator, the expansion tank, the thermostat, the cooling fan or the water pump. Draining and refilling the coolant on schedule is a separate, routine job, and a water pump changed as part of a timing belt kit belongs with that job instead.

Draining the old brake fluid, refilling with fresh DOT fluid of the correct grade and bleeding every wheel so the pedal or lever feels firm again. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, so manufacturers ask for a change every two years or so; pads and discs are listed separately.

Cleaning carbon deposits out of a running engine without stripping it — usually a hydrogen or ultrasonic machine connected to the intake for half an hour or so — to free sticky valves, EGR and turbo vanes, and recover lost power, smoother idle and a cleaner emissions test. A fix for a clogged DPF or a worn engine it is not.

The first, software-only level of performance tuning on a turbocharged car: the engine control unit is reprogrammed — boost pressure, fuel injection, ignition timing, torque limits — to give more power and torque with every mechanical part left standard. The car needs no new hardware and can usually be returned to the original software.
