The deepest level of performance tuning: replacing major engine hardware — a larger or hybrid turbo, bigger injectors and fuel pump, and often stronger pistons, con-rods or clutch — and writing a custom control unit map, usually set up on a dyno. It changes the car substantially and usually has to be declared for the ITV.
